Friday movie trailer.

Representation:
Older teenagers are represented as criminals within this movie. They have been represented to be involved in drugs and violence. Their attitude also reinforces stereotypes as they are being disrespectful as they are swearing and insulting people. Also, the teenagers in the movie are wearing hats, chains, trainers and are generally looking scruffy.

Black people within this movie are represented as criminals too. They are involved with drugs and also violence. This reinforces the stereotype that black people are not good people to surround yourself with. Also, black people are represented to steal from others.

Within this trailer men are represented as violent. This is as they are fighting and are always trying to take cover. Men are then represented to be observant to women and their body parts. Also, men are represented to be heroic and in brave and within this movie, the stereotype has been reinforced.

Theories:

Todorov:
The equilibrium is when the two teenagers are with each other minding their own business. The disequilibrium is when Smokey owes Big Worm money.

Barthes:

The enigma in this trailer would be 'why are they wanted?' and 'how did they get saved?'. The action in this trailer would be the drive by that occurs and also asking several people to lend them some money.

Propp:
The helper in this trailer is Craig as he helps Smokey with his sticky situation. Craig is also the donor as he helps Smokey try and get money to help save Smokey's life. The protagonist is Smokey as he is the one who is looking for something (in this case, money.) D-Bo is the antagonist as he is the enemy of Smokey. He also gets in the way of Smokey as he is getting Smokey to do things for him which prevents Smokey from getting on with his aim.
